TRAVELLING YARNS WITH COCOKNITS
11-18 October 2019 SOLD OUT
Join us for a memorable knitting retreat in the New Forest, 90 minutes southwest of London with author and expert knitter Julie Weisenberger of Cocoknits and yarn connoisseur Tracy Russell. During the week you’ll learn to knit a sweater following Cocoknits seamless ‘top-down’ method using naturally dyed british yarn from a nearby sheep farm. You’ll leave at the end of the week with a host of wonderful memories and a lovingly hand-knitted souvenir of your time in the English countryside.
En route to the New Forest we visit the Little Grey Sheep Farm, where you’ll buy yarn for your sweater project from a wide selection of DK, 4-ply and chunky yarns available in their store. You’ll meet Emma the owner and Susie the shepherdess, watch the sheepdogs in action and say hello to the flock before continuing onto Heathfield House, our beautifully restored and secluded home for the week.
Inspired by the local landscape and with British wool between your fingers you’ll be eager to get started. You’ll choose a pattern from an extensive range in the Cocoknits catalogue and with Julie and Tracy as guides, you’ll embark on your project to create a knit to remember. Fun outings are planned - an exciting day of antique hunting - and another to a mohair farm to meet their flock of angora goats where you might buy a skein or two for your knitting or dyeing project later in the week. We also plan to have lunch at a typical British pub and dinner in a local restaurant.
