Bonne Fete: Goodnestone Gathering

Cancelled

We’re delighted to announce that Bonne Fete will be on tour in the UK in 2021! We’d love you to be part of this unique experience and invite you to join us from 8-17 October for our Goodnestone Gathering which takes place at a beautiful stately home in Kent in southeast England. You can expect a wonderful blend of studio time, delicious meals and cooking demonstrations, an antique shop crawl and other excursions including to a romantic moated castle and the cathedral city of Canterbury.

The retreat begins on Friday morning when we will meet after breakfast for a visit to style emporium Petersham Nurseries for shopping and a delicious lunch before departing by coach for Goodnestone Park in Kent, 2 hours southeast of London.

We will stay for 8 nights at Goodnestone Park, a glorious stately home built in 1704 and the family seat of Julian, 22nd Lord Fitzwalter. In the 19th century Jane Austen’s brother, Edward, lived at Goodnestone Park and Jane was a frequent visitor. Her diary entries from the time mention parties and dances at Goodnestone and she was inspired to write Pride and Prejudice after a particularly sociable stay.

Anna's workshops are filled with her love of collage, vintage ephemera and signature beeswax technique.  Our studio will be stocked with an assortment of paper goods, aged ribbons, hand-dyed lace and an array of dried flowers and botanicals. Projects will include creating our own flower press, an embroidery sampler and a small journal using florals, papers and stitching.  Nick will be offering his unique take on our Goodnestone location... a blend of whimsy and function captured with wire and paper.

We take time out of the studio to enjoy cooking demonstrations with our private chef Olivia Wacher and we’ll visit several places of interest locally including the city of Canterbury, famous for its 11th-century Cathedral, a romantic 13th-century moated castle and we plan to take you on an antique crawl to hunt for treasures and souvenirs.

We leave Goodnestone on Saturday morning and head back to Richmond where we will enjoy a farewell dinner and an overnight hotel stay.
